Simple. Poor children are disproportionately African-American. If you provide decent health care for them, they will do better in school, etc.--and be better able to compet.

A similar example--the "No Child Left Behind" scam takes money away from poor schools and gives it to those with better local funding (i.e., mostly white).

So the "trick?" Bush and the neocons don't regard blacks--or any other minority--as real Americans; they've madethat clear many times. Thus---since they only regard whites as "real Americans"--"help ing the poor" would be "tricking" them into enabling minorities to compete on an equal basis.

The only "trick" is the one Bush is pulling on the American people, hoping we will buy more of his ridiculous rhetoric.

Need a memory refresher?

"Holding the troops' funding Hostage" to congress
"World War III if we don't stop Iran" -at a recent press conference

Gosh, another lie from another liberal. Who's surprised? Our President never said anything such thing. He may have said that the SCHIP bill that he vetoed and that congress couldn't override was "really a trick on the American people." Anyone who knows anything about that bill, knows that whether or not our President actually said that, it's true.

Our President said he would veto that bill for months if it came to him in the form that it did come to him. He said repeatedly--you might have missed this--that he was more than willing to compromise to have an SCHIP law that both he and congress could agree upon. Congress absolutely refused to compromise and sent it anyway. And, surprise, surprise! Our President did as he promised he would and vetoed it.

Congress knew he would veto it but they sent it anyway. Why? Two reasons, I think. One is another political ploy to make it look like our President doesn't want poor children to have health coverage. Only liberals who don't want to believe the truth, believe that nonsense.

Secondly, it was a way to get nationalized health care into law through the back door without debate, without a vote. Most people are capable of figuring out that 23 year olds are NOT children. In fact, try calling someone who is 23 a kid and see how that person reacts. People who make either $80,000 or $60,000 a year are NOT poor. They should be covering their children with the health care plans that their jobs offer. I suppose they don't care whether or not their kids have coverage. I shouldn't have to take care of their kids; I have my own to take care of.

Next time you want to lie about our President, sonny, try making it convincing. That's what most experienced liberal liars do.

It's clear that the priorities of the republican party are to kill children in Iraq, not to keep American children healthy.

Well... it's the 25 year old "children" and the $50,000 "poor" that are among the sticking points.... seems kind of tricky to me... and as a bonus we get to insure illegals as well.... And the biggest trick is the tax on cigarettes.... which will fall mostly on the very people this bill is supposed to "help" When Democrats come bearing gifts... watch out and hold on tightly to your wallet.

Travolta: Do you think the Democrats care more about people than Corporations? Right.

Most corporations give to both parties for a reason.

The Democrats only want to win, as do the Republicans.

Going to war with Iraq was the biggest trick pulled on the American People.

No WMDs, 4000 dead U.S. Troops, over 265,000 dead Iraqi civilians.

A trillion dollar debt on a war that never should have been waged.

Billions of dollars worth of no bid contracts given to Haliburton. The ultimate trick is on all of us.

Not to mention the biggest part of the "Trick", is that you can't get something, for Nothing!

The $$MONEY$$ has to come from somewhere.......

And it's >NOT< coming from the people who are proposing this new "Program"....it going to come out of >OUR< pockets!

There are better ways to do what needs to be done.

"Universal Health care" is a cool concept....that sucks in real life.....and is almost imposable to implement.

This is because he is trying to NOT expand it to homes that can afford insurance on their own. The liberal mentality is that we should expand the "entitlement culture" that we've made so much worse over the last30 years or so.
