Other peoples kids? O lord do a background check on some of those republicans, I think you will find some of them served and some DO have children in the military, Duncan hunter maybe? Get a clue. And like numerous people have said, Its ALL voluntary. I joined 5 years ago and re-enlisted 1 year ago WHILE in Iraq. I SAW the difference we made, I didnt watch it from the medias point of view....ALL of you people talking this and that about what isnt right about being over there find a way to get over there and tell me Bush is wrong.
A Vietnam veteran, Duncan Hunter served in the 173rd Airborne and 75th Army Rangers and, after coming home, utilized the G.I. Bill to attend Western State University Law School in San Diego (now Thomas Jefferson School of Law). While completing his degree, Hunter supplemented his income by working in farming and construction, and opened a storefront legal office after graduation where he began serving many in the Hispanic community, often without compensation
they have two sons, Duncan Duane, who served two tours in Iraq in the U.S. Marine Corps,

well I can't give an opionion I can however referr to what happens to those who have gone to war and came back, many are totally ruined, in fact many who come back from iraq have killed their families, many vietnam vets are totally ruined in many ways and are not better but worse for the experience.
so those who send other kids to war are basically monsters. if they truly believe in a cause they surely should be taking the lead and picking up a gun along with their familes don't you think?
or could it be because these wars are not about ideology or protecting the country (whatever country that may be) but about resource acquisition? Money? profits for the corporations? so they have no desire to protect anything except profits and you can't spend profits if you are dead.

This will only work for a while. Right now, Americans can be indoctrinated, stampeded, and dogmatized...until some begin to shake off the trance and see things for themselves.
I see some of these political wanabees as used war salesmen ( and women) , and know we are being sold down the river. Not everyone is beyond the conditioning yet.
This is why we need a draft.

You are right, war is not pretty especially when you have been in one.
But taking freedom for granted our way of life which most of us do. forgetting how we get luxuries of our present day.
I think just to blame the people in power is not exactly right since without it we would not have our way of life,
And sine global economy is very fragile any significant effect on prices on oil would drastic affects, could easily send the world especially USA in depression.
.
And let me say we soldiers or my COY who are currently fighting in Helmand are
1. not kids,
2. we are doing our job,
3. we are proud and honored to serve our country.
Yes sending other people's Kids to war is completely wrong
I hope this answer your question.
And Yes I am Anti-War but understands the price we pay for our way life.

No it doesn't make someone tough and brave but it is unfortunately necessary at times.
Lib propaganda is hilarious. Everybody is somebody's kid but you have to be an adult to be in the military. Does stealing from other people's kids to pay for the irresponsible make a person "compassionate" and "caring?" The answer to that one is also no.

It's really pathetic watching the Cons debate each other...it's all about inflating ones chest, chanting ones ease with dropping more bombs on more countries and saying "I'm the most like Reagan".
It's akin to watching a student council debate in your old high school gym class. Absolutely mind-boggling.

Perhaps you should have talked to my daughter. With the rise of islamic terrorism in this world, she sat down with me before she enlisted and told me I could not expect everyone elses kid to do the job. Your point is small and meaningless my friend when our children turn out to be such American hero's. They know exactly why they enlisted and I think it is very small of you to try and score points off of some other kids heroism. Go back under your rock.

No one in this country is sending anyone to war that didn't VOLUNTEER to go.
You seem to neglect the fact that we have an all volunteer military.
The Army is not a job or a career; it's a willingness to sacrifice yourself when your nation calls upon you. We do not work 9 to 5. We do not get weekends and holidays off. We do not get sick days. We don’t do it for money or power.
If you could name one person who was forced to sign up and go to Iraq your question would be valid and worth debating. But you can’t and, so, consequently, it isn’t.
