Possibly. When I was 12, my grandmother died. I moved into what had been her bedroom soon after, because I hated sharing with my sister. I'd only been in the room a couple of days when I had what I believed at the time was a visit from my grandmother's ghost, telling me she was glad I had moved into her room. My impression was she did not want the room empty, nor did she want any other member of the family to take it over. (I had been her favorite.)
Now, in long, long hindsight, I believe it is possible I only dreamed it. What made me think it was real at the time was that I woke up BEFORE I saw her rocking chair rocking and two red points of light where her eyes would have been. But now, as an old lady, I realize that it is possible to dream that you have woken up.

In all seriousness, there is one across the street.
The history of our neighborhood is complex, dating back to the 1930s, when a family moved into that house and adopted a stray puppy. Well, the dog grew up, and from neglect of food and water, viciously slaughtered the family. (Supposedly) the dog still lives in the house. When I was just a kid, we ventured out to the house in the middle of the night, and were scared off by scratching noises. The house has never sold.
Its actually kind of sad, in a way. The house is deterierating, and I think it would be nice if someone bought it and restored it. Then it wouldn't be so scary.
