last nite i MADE THE CHEF handmake my s.h.i.t...

something NOT on the menu..

PECAN CRUSTED CHICKEN OVER ALFREDO NOODLES

excellent.

i told the manager that he might want to add it to the menu. let him tell the cook it was good.

my job is done.

It depends on the meal and the restaurant your eating at...the meal should be something more than just good to see the chief a tip will do because the food is suppose to be good.

would depend on the kind and size of the place.

If its a small intimate place - I'd talk to the chief
if its a bigger place that may have many chiefs or be really busy - its better just to tip and hope they get the message.

If a really upscale restaurant with Matre de, tip generously and say as you are leaving, "My compliments to the Chef". He may offer you the chance to do so personnally,but rest assured he will tell the Chef.Don't bother at Applebees,etc.
