Sort of. East Texans don't sound like the rest of the state--more like Old South and less like "cowboy" or "Tex-Mex" accent. Hard to describe, but not too hard to tell apart if you hear them.
Also rural Texans sound different from urban Texans--not as many "natives" there I guess, or they are trying to hide it to be considered more "professional"?
So, what I have is a rural East Texas accent.
(By the way, in the asker's defense I think she may be referring to native Texans still living in Texas or elsewhere vs those born elsewhere who are now living in Texas--there are some variations in there that might have needed clarifying.)

I've lived here since I was 12 and picked up a few of the local words....Y'all, Coke means any soda, and more I'm sure. As far as accents their are few that have that loveable twang mainly because most Texans fall into the "got here as fast as I could" category not like my daughter who is born and raised Texan. I think that has diluted the twang.

ROFLMAO at "Top Contributor"...
Anyway, not really. I have to admit my one weak word is Wash! I constantly get busted for saying it as if it were spelled:
w-o-r-s-h.
Sounds like: Hey, I'm going out to worsh the car.
Other than that, I'd say no...no real draw, unless I'm sno skiing in Colorado. They like to make fun of Texans there, so if I've come across someone rather rude, I'll do it on purpose to get a rise out of them.

See, the illegal mexicans who cross the border in TX are considered Texans when they leave TX for the next states.
