Well, I am embarrassed to say that I've never heard a cactus, perhaps they don't like me; although my ferns speak frequently and are quite funny, but the plant eating tree that calls herself hibiscus on my patio usually just growls, which I find strange in a tropical plant; begonias giggle a lot, but if you want a silent plant get a jade or a geranium.
But, back to your question, cacti make me think of sand and heat, but no water, not the beach. Cacti grow wild around where I live and to me they are geometric plants, not graceful at all.

Well, i dont know wether or not I can hear a cactus...but if i could, I would be all like "WHAT THE F**K IS GOING ON!?" Same if I just opened my eyes and there's some anonymos cactus. Like...woah buddy...that mad at me? Cactus threats?

I always think of arizona when I see a cactus, especially a saguaro.

As to seeing them, I always think "cute" as the cactus is a favorite of mine. I just have to keep reminding myself that "cactus" is a thorny issue!

I think of Donald Duck.
This may seem odd, until I remember the amount of cartoons I used to watch where Donald somehow sat/landed/hugged a cactus. This image permeated my childhood. =)
