I'm looking at this chopper on ebay and thinking about snatching it up, but it has a springer front end and was wondering how this ride was compared to standard forks. Anyone witha springer front end could help with this ?

I have ridden bikes with springer front ends and they have a nice ride. I think they look better too. A little old school look. Go for it.

It all depends on how the springer was set up. With modern oil in front forks. They will work better than a springer and are more adjustable than a springer.

My front end is like riding on an air cusion, the proper front end with oil set you my weight. The purpose of the front end is not a look, it's how well it works.

You may get sick of the springer, it all depends how it rides on that bike, nothing more. "Every Bike handles separate to another bike". You should ride before you buy it, ask the seller if you can come up and ride the bike first.

A lot of money, if you end up hating the ride or the bike over all.

I ride a 2007 Harley Softail Custom with standard front forks. I rented a 2006 Harley Springer Softail for my Dad and rode it once. I found the front end a little stiffer than my Softail Custom front end. It was not unbearable though.

if its a good set up like a like a springer with a shock in the middle not too much will change , springers flex up and down not at a degree like most forks

it depends, is it an older bike? if so, the older springer front ends had some weakness problems, I have even seen them snap. They also rode pretty stiff. The newer front ends, are much stronger, and ride pretty darn nice as well. AND, they look great!!

If you buy a poorly designed old style
front suspension with out of date performance
because you like the looks, you probably don't
ride much.
Modern forks are so much better in performance
that riding a springer puts you in poser land.

springers are very cool looking and the newer ones ride pretty good. but the bushings have to be replaced after about 10,000 miles. could be costly, unless you can do it yourself.

For a custom look with a good ride, consider a girder front end.
