Transylvania is a region of Romania, not a town. Bram Stoker, the author of "Dracula" have never been there actually. I live in Cluj which is the informal capital of the region.

Halloween is not celebrated here, except maybe in some clubs and private parties where people dress up funny. There is a somewhat related catholic celebration in the 1st of November, where people go to the cemeteries and light up candles in the memory of their loved ones they've lost.

Unfortunately there are no real vampires here, but for tourists we are always happy to pretend there are. :-)

I just read that Transylvania is actually a dying town. Apparently in the 80s there was an economic boost when vampire's became really popular. During that time the town thrived on the tourist industry. Since then Wal Mart has moved near the town taking away from all small businesses and tourists don't stop to visit near as often. The population of the town is in the hundreds now. The article said that there were very few Halloween decorations through out the town. The article was actually kind of sad.
