We get so many free services from the gov., such as food stamps, streets pavements, education from K1 to grade 12. Don’t you think that these services are free lunches.

No, not at all. No such thing. They are all supported by our collective tax dollars at work. Even if you pay no income tax, you are paying sales taxes, real estate taxes too even if you don't own through the rental fees.

I guess if you are really a doctor, this lays to rest the myth that doctors are intelligent. More to pity.

No. They are paid by taxes. Everyone should take Econ 101; nothing is created from nothing; everything has a real beginning, all those food stamps, street pavements, education comes at a cost, way too high a cost.
50 years ago, when the Liberals did not run the Media, it was published that for every $1 in benefits, people paid $10 in taxes. How much do you think it costs now?

Your question seems to confuse some people. There is, in fact a free lunch! When those who claim we pay taxes for the service they seem to overlook the fact that; yes we may pay the tax but many times someone who doesn't pay the tax takes advantage of: Hmmmm, how about "food stamps" for a 100 Alex! Or lets think of other things that can be considered free lunch for people. How about welfare of any kind... Many who take advantage of it are not tax payers! And, let's not forget that small seemingly insignificant fact that the government can withhold payment of highway funds if: The state does not follow the speed limit rules... Yes, there is a free lunch, and yes, some of us do pay for lunch.

I do and i think that a lot of people take advantage of them. Welfare for instance is taken advantage of in such a bad way. A lot of people are lazy and do not want to work, so why not let the Goverment pay for them to sit on their bums all day. In my opinion I think the welfare system needs to be re-evaluated and kick the lazy off. Same with WIC and Social Services.

I as a working person get very irrate when I see a person at the grocer pull out the EBT card and spend that money on junk food. Also these people are dressed better than I as well.

Welfare is something to help you at a hard time. It is not something that should be used as a way of life!

These services ARE NOT FREE Where do you think the money comes from to pay for these programs? That is why our taxes are so high. People abuse these programs and taxpayers are footing the bill. Latest is giving the illegal aliens our social security that we have worked hard all our lives for. The government has over stepped their boundaries and is gambling with our SS and giving it away. Thay are not even supposed to be handling it. It was started so we, (THE WORKING AMERICAN) would have some sort of income after we retire. Not so illegals can send the money back to mexico for their families.

I dont think that all of thoose are " free lunches". Schooling is a must or we would all be a bunch of dumbys and we would all be on Food stamps. Streets are a must as we need something to drive on.Although I do admit that they do unnessary work on roads at times, but how are the streets a "free lunches"? Some people do need Goverment Assistance to hellp them get by or to better themselves. Then there are some, not all, that do get a free ride:)

No, I think these services come w/ a hell of a price. For one if you can qualify for these services then your standard of living can not be very high. That in itself is a high payment to make for a crappy free lunch. Many ppl feel they have to have these services and do not reach beyond the expectations of the govt. so they can continue recieving em. That is sad. Being on welfare does nothing for ones self esteem that is a price to many are willling to pay for that free lunch.

no.........we pay enough money we need better from the government....instead we spend it on a war or give it to others that need it.........I mean isnt it odd as one of the richest countries in the world and we have abuse, starvation, poor education and homeless and druggies everywhere? you can call it choices but its not....its a bad environment that we pay our government to take care of........guess what, they dont. Instead they give it to africa or somewhere else in the world....I mean besides money shouldn't we be the most civilized country in the world with only the best to offer? Isnt the king of south africa the richest man in the world? I think so, Why doesnt he help ''his'' continent? I will tell you why because he is trying to take care of his country FIRST....free lunches are only for the rich and polititians......my kid does not go to the same school as the presidents for FREE.....but I bet his does!!!!!! whats up with that? think outside the box for once and not inside the circle of confusion.

When Bush became President he stopped all Meals on Wheels , because a sorry no good Nothing but a freeloader himself.stopped these bedridden people that are alone from getting the only meal they could get, That is why I hate him.
