How can you make yourself look headless?

I am gonna be a head on a platter, but my mom wants to be the body, but we can't figure out a good way to do it.

There are a few ways to do it. All involve illusion. One is to use padding to increase the height of the shoulders and use a prosthetic cap to appear like a severed neck. That sort of works, however, the appearance depends on what you are wearing because it will make the arms look out of whack. A good costume that blends these padded shoulders into the arms is needed.

Another depends on covering the head with something that blends into the background. This will probably not work for you because I bet your mom will be moving around. This effect is used for a person sitting still. It is a classic illusion for the headless woman at various carnivals. It has a woman sitting with what looks like tubes and stuff coming out of her neck and she had no head. What is happening is that the tubes are hiding the edges of the material that blends in with the wall behind the woman. Her head is hidden behind that.

Another is to use a large prosthetic that has the upper body sans head. This takes a bit of work to build and is a bit cumbersome. I saw in an article lately, a woman who built a Marie Antoinette costume where the headless woman was carrying around a live head. It is a pretty good illusion. The woman wore a prosthetic she had built and her own head came out the front of it and looked like she was carrying her own head.

There really isn't a good way to do it with two people. For a head on a platter you usually build a frame on your shoulders to hold up your clothes.

the way this one works is that no one is the body.. you build a fake upper torso and use your legs and put your head on the platter.
