I've lived in both and both countries are okay. In the US I don't like the hypocrisy of a lot of people. In Holland I don't like how over organized people are. If I had to choose I'd go for The States, Miami or New Orleans.

Well here in the States I am on 5 years probation, if I was in Holland I could drink beer after work every night. Learning the language would be the only barrier, that and missing my family.

I've been in the US quite often and have friends there but I live in the Netherlands. While I would be ok for an extended stay in the US, for a permanent place I'd stay here in the Netherlands. My way of thinking, attitude, preferences and ideals fit this country much more.
rabbiboodge: fish icecream? Not really part of the normal Dutch cuisine afaik. It seems to be somewhat popular is East Asia thouhg. If I remember right there is an experimental cuisine here which tries things like that though but that's about it. So, feel free to come over. :)

I've heard that the average height in holland is over 6 foot, so as a man who is only 5'7" I wouldn't want to live in a place with that many tall people.. I know, I'm insecure.. :p

I'm neither a Dutch nor a US citizen but I have lived in both countries. My husband is Dutch and he has wonderful family there. I would choose the Netherlands. I love the scenery, the people, the history, the European mentality, the hospitality. The list is endless! Kusjes.

I live in the Netherlands, in the part called Noord Holland.
I love it here.
I have been in the USA, I will go back one day, but on average, I do not agree with the politics in the USA, even the 'left wing' politicians are too far right in my opinion. That makes the current president and general attitudes unacceptable, for me, for even a visit right now, even less living there.
