It used to be standard that all Presidential candidates had served in the military, given the fact that they were being elected to lead the armed forces.

However, that trend ended with Bill Clinton. Aside from John McCain, I don't know that any of the major candidates from either party has served in the military.

No....

I was in the military but I wouldn't vote for a retired soldier just because of the fact that he was in the military. I would also be capable of voting for a person who was NOT in the military. Any president will have lots of advice and will rely on the NSC and the Pentagon... so they won't be alone in their decision making when it comes to the military or even war. (It would help if a politician had combat experience because of the ability to empathize with people in a war torn environment but it is not essential).

I don't like Giulliani and I won't vote for him if he is nominated but his lack of military experience is not even considered for me. I'm not voting for him because all he talks about is how he saved America on 9/11.

I'm pretty sure all the "front-runners" are lawyers by trade and have no military or medical experience.

He has used the "service" of a few call girls from what I have been told, that count?

Why would that matter. Come to think of it our greatest war time president FDR never served, it certainly didn't stop him from handling WW2
