i wanted some piano sheet music to finding neverland. i came across this website that says it is free and "legal"..

see you don't download the files straight from the site, you just email people that list what they have on the site.. and if they have something you want, you ask them to email it to you and then you print it off for yourself.

is that illegal?? here is the website:
www.pianofiles.com

it seems like a great idea, but i don't want to break the law or anything!! any answers?! thanks! :)

Most likely you won't get busted for simply one download but yes morally it's wrong.
What's happening are people searching for legal loopholes around the copyright laws. Just because it may not be to the "letter" of the term illegal doesn't mean it's truly 100% legal either. If it's been copyrighted and your trying to get it for free (regardless of the method), it's illegal.

Looks REALLY illegal to me. You could get viruses on your computer (if you're NOT using a Mac) and then the feds could located those viruses and see that the music was illegally downloaded.

It's legal on the songs that are not copyrighted, but illegal on the copyrighted material.

Don't do it. You might get busted. ANd besides, if you get the music for free then the artist of the music is not getting money. And if he doesn't get any money, then he will starve and die and he will never get to make any more music ever again.
