Knowing a lot just means that. You know plenty, but without imagination, you cannot use that information constructively. Imagination on the other hand, opens up a lot of possibilities, many of which can be happy accidents, without knowledge of what you are doing.

Yes, agree with A.E.
At the same time, it is my view that A.E. had a God-given, big imagination compared to most persons on planet earth.
He had the ability to visualize scientific questions using a dream format, perhaps along the lines of seeing a vivid, mental 3d color movie storyboard in his head.
From seeing those things in his imagination, he could work backwards to the mathematics behind what he saw in his head.
Some persons would describe this as a gift of an architectural imagination or the imagination of a skilled director from Hollywood, California to direct a movie with many persons in it which later becomes appreciated by citizens in general from all ages and all backgrounds.
Einstein also was born into a family where his father was into electrical engineering/machinery so he had a very robust childhood which gave him parts to the puzzles he decided to solve as I recall.
Bottomline, the problem solving gift A.E. had came from God (genes). That level of talent is not given to most persons (my view).
Alex Osborn wrote a book titled Applied Imagination.
Part of the human imagination is believed housed in the right hemisphere of the human brain (simplified).

Hmm.. well I'm just taking a guess here.. People get knowledge from imagination. For example, scientists, when experimenting, they predict what will happen and how it will happen. And to PREDICT, you need to use your imagination. Another example is, The best writers in the world are very creative. Creativity is a key to knowledge, and so is imagination. I think that is what he was talking about..

All knowledge can be kept on a computer but a computer can't imagine anything.
Phew, for a second I read your question as: Immigration is more important than knowledge.

Not completely, Imagination can aid knowledge. And knowledge can aid Imagination . So It's kinda , sorta. The dreamer and the thinker combined, can make giant strides possible. Or stop things in their place If they conflict.

yeah I agree..I think it takes imagination to create or solve something. Knowledge is just learned material from that creation or solution. Like I dont think cavemen had "being a cavemen for dummies" books so the stuff that we know of now came from their imagination say as they struggle to rip the flesh off a bison and one says.."hum...ooh gaa ooh gaa" Interpretation....(hum, what the hell can I use to make this crap easier?) And thats how it goes

Because you can always search out and obtain the answer... but you can't search out and get imagination... it's something you're born with. In other words: Not everything is known and the only way to find the unknown is to imagine it first.

Knowledge is gained from other's imagination. If you do have knowledge about something,it means you know what somebody else would have imagined before. It proves that imagination is produced first.

I don't agree with Al. I think knowledge gives us more avenues to use our imagination, but then, what do I know.
