I would never use a pad again...what a mess, they make women smell and they are just gross...stick to tampons...

Just so you know, it is common to need to change your product every four hours or so. If you overflow your pad before then, and you are using the highest absorbency, it is time to see the doctor.
This is something to talk about with your doctor. There may be an underlying medical cause. If not, you can try going on the pill. Some of them actually shorten and lighten your period.

I would definitely use a higher absorbancy pad. I have to use overnight pads during the day. It is not always comfortable, but it is better than leaking and getting embarassed. If you still overflow using an overnight pad then I would suggest seeing your doctor. Some of us are just heavy. It doesn't mean anything is wrong with you. Regardless your doctor will be able to slow it down for you.

The only thing you can do to try and reduce your amount of overflows would be to use some type of birth control pill. Try using both a tampon and a pad at the same time. This will help reduce running to the bathroom so often.

you can look into a birth controle pill that can shorten and lighten your periods, or look at other products.
I have friends that wear tampons and pads, so they need changed less frequently because they have both, or you could try something called insted. you do have to be comfortable with yourself for this. Instead is kind of like a cervical cap, in that it's a plastic ring that gets placed there, about that size, that catches your blood. the catch is that it can be warn up to twice as long as a tampon.... so it wouldn't need changed as often.

Check you are using the best absorbancy product, maybe even a night pad
If you are still 'overflowing' then go to the doctor as he can maybe put you on a pill to shorten/lighten your period
Best of Luck

Isn't it nice that a newbie trusts strangers in a public forum with her feminine problems?
