Your son has an addiction to World of Warcraft, and you need to do more than move him into the basement. I implore you to yank the cords on the computer immediately, tell him to get out and get a job. That sort of addiction can ruin his life, so don't encourage it by moving him where you won't notice him.

Tell him to go out and get a job. When he starts to show he can manage time and money, he can start playing again IN MODERATION.

Are you paying for his subscription? If so, the best way to get your message across may be to simply stop your card from making the payments and let him start asking questions.

There are plenty of online games out there to get addicted to and they almost all have the same results on the addicted gamer - non-social, always playing the game, going straight to their computer as soon as they get home, only socializing with you around dinner (maybe - usually they'll bring food to their computer), not doing school work, staying up way late and skipping classes althogether - this is a real problem. I played a game called Dark Age of Camelot or, DAOC for short and I was addicted a little at one time, and I realised it. The only way to really help you son is to be strict on him. You can't set limits for these types of games because they do require a lot of time to be spent on them in order to make any gains. You need to be strict. Even though this will not work, start out by trying to set a limit with him...say, only 3 hours a night okay. He will probably ignore this and when he does, tell him if he doesn't start listening to you that you're going to cut off the internet and he will have to pay for it (if you pay for his WoW account too, make him pay for that as well).

Like I said though, start it out with setting a limit even though it won't work. You need to take control. He may 'hate' you for it and it will be hard to deal with him but you need to make him realise that he has to go out and get a job, socialize with REAL friends, etc... Don't keep telling he is addicted - you need to HELP him, not corner him or critisize him...be his friend about it but be strict.

I hope some of this helps, good luck.

It isn't called WoWcrack for nothing. WoW is VERY addictive. You need to impose some tough love. He has to pay rent, buy own food, and pay own internet and WoW fees. If he isn't contributing, it's hard, but out he must go. In the long run you will be doing him a favor, it's the only way to break through. Good luck.

Uninstall the program. lock the Installation CD to a place your son can't get it, uninstall program-downloading programs, cut his budget and cut that internet connection! Keep him busy with alternative activities until he forgets about Warcraft.

use need to tell your son, that he can't just play games all day. tell go play with friends or go play a sport, and read books. Its bad if he plays too much video games. eventually his eyes will get damage then has to wear classes or contact lens...

i wouldn't go cutting him off cold turkey..set some rules and hours when he can play... that game is like a whole world to him.. if you just pull the plugs off computer. he would feel like he just lost his best friend.. i've seen storys on the news about people killing them selfs over this game, cause mom cut the wire... so just be carefully how you handle it

How old is your son? If he's under 18 and you're concerned, cancel his subscription or at least make him pay for it. If he's over 18, what the hell is he doing living at home anyway?

If you chop off his fingers, he won't be able to play video games anymore.

If you have to come here and ask how to handle your son...,maybe you shouldn't have had kids.
