A family decides to install computers throughout the house but eventually the computers take over and try to kill some of the family members. I was watching a simpsons tree house of horror and it was based on this movie. Marge decides to purchase the Ultrahouse 3000, and it trys to kill homer and take over the house. does anybody know what movie this is?

...for the life in me, I cannot recall a specific movie, regardng a whole family terrorized by a house, taken over by a computer; perhaps the Simpsons episode, which you are referring to, took it's inspiration from the 1977 sci-fi suspenser, "Demon Seed"...

It is based 2001 space Odyssey where the computer on the spaceship is programmed for a different mission to what it and it's crew is doing so it kills the crew as it feels that they are "jeopardizing the mission". The computer is called HAL 9000. The main similarity is when homer destroys their computer, the scene is a direct parody of when HAL is destroyed.
It is worth watching just for the opening sequence which is said by many to be one of the best but you'll find the rest of the film drags on and towards the end it gets a bit trippy.

DEMON SEED.
Some professor had his house entirely automated, a bit too automated. The house started to think for itself.
They had this metalic geometrically designed arm, like an endless supply of triangles, which the main computer used to make anything.
A women got trapped in the house, so the computer, believe it or not, artificially inseminated her to perpetuate itself.
Some advanced concepts and computer graphics plus advanced math used in this movie.
