I agree with you on this basically America sees the government with a Republican president in which they elected as bad. When the Congress is democratically controlled. So they will blame the president but if its vice versa Democrats would be getting crap. Its a common cycle throughout history.

One must earn respect. That word seems a bit strange to Republicans these days. Show respect and get some in return. Because of Bush and his cronies the GOP has lost its luster. Main stream old style Republicans are going to suffer in this election because of what Bush and his people have done to the party. Bush and the people around him have no respect for elderly, poor people or kids as well as families of proud men and women who go off to fight an unnecessary war. How can they possibly expect any respect in return? People like to back a winner. Since it is pretty obvious that the Democrats will likely increase their lead in Congress and will take the White House next year they are likely to be more popular in bars etc. So you actually tell people your political affiliation, huh? Do you wear a button or shirt that shouts "I am a Democrat" or something? Maybe the ladies go for you because you are a stud muffin and it has nothing to do with your political opinions.

Actually, this is all wrong. Republicans should be respected. One who has no heart and no brain yet is still able to walk about and talk, to function nearly as well as a human being should be treated with a great deal of respect if not awe. Even if the speech is regurgitate tripe from the shrub one has to give credit to a semblance of a human being with the ability to parrot what was said.
The recognition of the superiority of Dems goes without saying. The intelligence and empathy to join such a far seeing and grand organization speaks of a truly great human being.

The Republican Party has been pulled to the far right by the W administration. It is associated with the evangelical administration that pushes their religous beliefs on the rest of the country. The War in Iraq is a disaster! We have spent billions in the area and have little to show for it. Added to the fact that this administration has yet to admit that they were wrong, instead they continue to defend it.
I use to be a republican but this administration has made me ashamed to support this party. I will DEFINENTLY be voting for a Democrat in the next election. This administrations lies must stop!

Because the likes of Rush and Hannity has now personified the GOP... those two look nerdy and act superior to everyone and act obnoxiously insane and have no sex appeal... and then the Religious Right, no one likes those guys (even Republicans!).
The GOP used to be progressive and moderate and concentrated on fiscal issues... man, those were the days. And those were the days that a Republican could be laid... no more.

Because Republicans are seen as a lower rung on the social ladder. They're selfish and old-fashioned. Democrats are hip, willing to get out more, and just generally cooler.
They also never invaded a country that didn't attack us, kill hundreds of thousands of people, or immerse our nation into a century of debt. Which makes them smarter.

Because Republicans get the stigma of being associated with President Bush, even though not all of them agree with him. I am one and I would say that my views are almost polar opposite of his. Republicans are seen as greedy, rich, over-educated snobs who only care about themselves and will crush whoever gets in their way. Some of us are nice :)

It shouldn't be that way, sadly the Republican party is not what it once was the those in leadership positions who say they are republican are highly disliked at this time, so people just tend to equate all republicans with the bad republicans.

Respect is something that is earned. Republicans have not earned any respect lately.
As far as ladies mobbing you at the bar, they probably think that since you're Republican you like boys or having anonymous sex with men in airport men's rooms.
