After reading the answers here so far the only thing i can say is.......MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON THE UNITED STATES! Is this the best intellectual reasoning there is in this country?
Up until 1992,there was never such venomous personal attacks on individuals as there is today. This country has had 15 yrs.of indoctrination of Clinton-ism. civility no longer exists apparently. You can't hold a discussion without hatred raising it's ugly head. By the way, what happened to those leaders of other countries that joined in the fun of bashing America. Their no longer in office. defeated by their Citizens complete contemp for them. I'm hopping that the same thing will happen in this country when the members of Congress come up for re-election. That is our only salvation. It's amazing how one of the above, can trash Mr. Bush about being stupid, does'nt under stand foreign policy, who's going to bomb Poland. then in the next statement, gives him credit for what he's doing. Good Lord,almighty.......HELP
Mele Kai.......Bless you! may there be many more like you.......

First: I believe Bush is a complete and total idiot and is by far the worst President in U.S. history. I believe he is too stupid to actually understand the subtleties of foreign relations and diplomacy. I think he's snarky and offensive and has done immense damage to U.S. interests at home and abroad.
All that said, I think missle defense is the one area where he is right. It is inevitable that hostile regimes will eventually develop or acquire short and medium range missile capability, and possibly even the ability to arm those missiles with nuclear warheads. Given that, it makes a ton of sense to put money into technology to intercept those missiles. Sure, critics will say that it's a waste of money and the technology doesn't work. But, if we invest money now, the technology will eventually work - hopefully before some wacko terrorist group or unstable regime decides to rain missiles down on Europe, Israel, Japan or even the U.S.
Putin is just mad because instead of moving reforms in Russia forward he has taken Russia backward toward their old position of less democracy and an adversarial mindset toward Europe and the U.S.

If Bush was not so goddam corrupt, Putin would be in check! Putin even gave praise to the US before we invaded Iraq...after Iraq it was no longer US is the good guys and everyone else is a bandit...After Iraq the world realized we are no better than anyone else...and Putin has exploited this...monkey see monkey do....Bush stole elections and declared an illegal war....Putin is a KGB monster who was at least acting like a nice guy...but after the Bush showed his nazi like intentions....Putin decided that he too can be a dictator by creating an illusion of democracy!!!
Who is worse??? I think that is a job for the devil to decide!

If you look at the locations where the missile shields are going to be installed, it makes no sense whatsoever. Why would any 'rouge state' attack Czech Republic and Poland?
Why would Bush like to put the missile defense in the former Soviet Union's 'back yard'?
The whole thing smells like a rat. There's certainly more to it than meets the eye. I think it is in Bush's best interest to destabalize the EU-Russia region while the middle east is destabalized. More regions destabalized = more defense spending.

first it was chavez equating bush with the antichrist. then castro saying our beloved presidents plan to turn corn into gas instead of cornflakes, now it's putin comparing today to the dark days of the duck and cover exercises of the early sixties.
a case could be made that these are just a bunch of commies dissin' the leader of the free world. could be, but it's all true. bush is:
a) evil incarnate.
b) dumb as a rock.
c) arrogant beyond belief.
bush is the problem. impeachment now. i know there's only a year left, so what? impeachment now. but what crime has he committed? illegal wire taps. invasion of iraq based on lies and misinformation. war crimes (abu ghraib). and about two dozen other charges.
NOTE about statement (above) "Servility no longer exists apparently." i certainly hope not.
servility, definition: 1. too obedient: too willing to agree with somebody or to do anything, however demeaning, that somebody wants.
2. menial: relating to work that is considered menial or degrading servile tasks.
3. relating to slavery: relating to slaves or the condition of slavery.

Actually, the problem is not Putin and Bush. The real problem are the "rich guys" who are trying to sell their "guns" and oil with the help of provoking conflicts around the world. That word-race is just a mask presidents have to wear(also bear)till their time ends. America is bound to hate Russia, and vice versa... They are just doing their job. So all this nonsense is not worth it, don't pay attention:)

Bush. If we bomb Iran we're going to start another war with Russia and let's face it, since Russia's new found energy wealth, they are not the only "police state" in the world. It will be bad news. We need to get Bush out ASAP.

I was waiting for the VP Cheney remarks... In my opinion Putin is more dangerous.
In recent weeks Putin has been playing both sides of the fence. Since trips to Iran , US and Germany he has made numerous conflicting statements. In Iran he was given audience to The Supreme Leader. The Grand Ayatollah let him know he does not want WW3 with Bush. He also said the President of Iran would "simply" be removed if he did not comply. He wants nuclear power and not weapons. (Asia Times, google it, today as even more interesting stuff pertaining to your question).
Internally Russia has been plagued with Neo Nazi Youth groups violating immigrants as the police close their eyes. The non whites have been supporting the economy at home yet? Finland has had long existing border land mines between their countries. Meant to be disabled now they may re consider. Norway is proving Europe with oil and Russia has violated their airspace more than once. Reports have stated Russia sold Nuclear Subs to Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. Germany was very angry and threatened to kick him out of the EU. He has been very vocal about his support of Iran both military & economic. Sure, they are the ones helping build the underground nuclear facilities in question.
Putin also in chinadaily.com.cn was quoted saying he and friend President have worked to avoid a global disaster. Then you have his own political wrangling to provide a puppet government and place himself as Prime Minister. Thus still pulling the strings. Iran & Russia want control over the Trans Caspian Oil Pipeline.
I feel that Bush & Cheney are well aware of the politics of this man. That is why sanctions and military presence is key. We must remain strong as these world leaders posture. It is clear many want Super Power status. We need to be somewhat aggressive to prevent any further actions. Putin is very visably and vocally making his moves. He is the mad man in my book. Condi Rice is going over this week again. Our ships have been moving closer. It's a house of cards. Pray diplomacy works. AND that American's take Voting very seriously in '08. AS if their lives depended on it. Thanks for asking.
