I have a 92 honda accord ex that starts up immediately some times and others takes approx. 3 trys. A mechanic said it may be the temp sensor. My question is: If it is the temp sensor how can I replace myself? What are the steps? Also, could it be some other problem other than the sensor?

Thanks,
tdsilk

i agree, don't change a part unless you know for sure what it is. it could be several things such as the battery itself, ignitor, anything.

"It may be" will cost you a lot of $$$. If this don't work "it may be" whatever. NEVER replace any part till you know the problem. If you have a sensor problem you should get a check engine light. A habit some people have is pressing the throttle when they start the engine. This is a no no on fuel injected engines. Watch and see if you have this habit. It could be your problem. Otherwise the problem will take a SMART tech. to fix.

The problem is most likely the ignition switch. I have seen many ignition switch failures on older accords. Start with repairing the ignition switch+harness. It is not very expensive and really isn`t that difficult to install if you know how to disassemble the steering column.
