I can't remember Dad taking us. I don't remember trick or treating until I started school. My sister and I would go alone and stay out for a couple of hours.

No, I had two older sisters and went out with them till I was old enough to go out with my friends. My parents were at home giving candy out to the other kids.

I remember my mother taking us. My dad was usually working. We started going alone (or I was in charge of keeping an eye on my brother and sisters) when I was about 10 or 11. We always went in a large group with our neighborhood buddies. This was waaaaay back in the 60's when kids could safely trick-or-treat alone (within reason).

When my kids started trick-or-treating in the late 70's I went with them. I never allowed my children to go alone and I think my husband may have gone with us a couple of times, but I was still following my son and his friends around when they were teenagers.

When I was smaller, my dad didn't approve of trick or treat...he felt it was 'begging' and saying if you don't give me a treat I'll play a trick on you [which he considered really inappropriate]...at any rate I dressed up and went to Halloween parties...

In 5th/6th grade I began going trick or treating...but stopped that way before high school!

I used to take my kids in our suburban neighborhood. All of us neighbors would get together with thermoses of hot chocolate and flasks of [?] lol...and as a group take the wee ones through the area.

I grew up in New York City. The other children and I went out on our own in the neighborhood to go trick or treating. Parents weren't needed because we had not raised the reading on the national paranoia meter to the "Everybody Panic" setting.

We went by ourselves, starting when I was about 6, little brother was 4 or so.

I can remember my big sister loaning me her lipstick, to go with my gypsy costume. I felt so grown up. That was about the only involvement of family in it.

Mom would let us keep our candy thru Halloween night, maybe into the next day. We'd swap this for that, together. Then, Mom would take the bags, put a few pieces into our school lunches every day, till it was gone.

I almost ask this same question.
No, never we roamed for hours. Took the tow little sisters home after the first hour then my brother and i skedaddled with a neighbor friend.
We stayed out till at least 9 or when the porch lights turned off. Loved it!

My parents let us go right there in our neighborhood alone. We spent most of the evening at home giving out candy, we'd get bunches of trick or treaters. My parents took us to the Halloween festival at the grade school every year, we really enjoyed that.

I would recommend it. Due to the many problems happening in Halloween it would only be safe if you have an adult/guardian with you. Anyways if they do come with you, both you and your guardian can go trick or treating. Usually the guardian will give you their candy which means you'll have double the treats!
Lol, anyways have fun!

No, I don't remember even going trick or treating when I was small, only as a teenager.

We lived out in the country when I was a kid, so not much
chance to go out trick or treating. When we did go, we
sometimes went to some of the neighbors houses. We had
to be driven, so my dad took us. Sometimes they would
come to our house.
