its about 4ft tall and i regularly pull off the dead leaves at the lower part of the tree to stop the weight getting too much - do i have to take some green ones off too?do i just prop it up?

checked for rot but it seems healthy enough.there is another tree at the same side as the bend and here in the uk we don't get much daylight at this time of year could it be that its moving to get more light?

Is the trunk of the palm soggy or soft? If so then it has rot and will need to be removed. If it is just the weight of the top then try propping it, but I doubt that is the problem because palms can usually support their own weight.

it might start to rot. if it is a queen palm or royal palm. they can rot. mabe you should cut the leaves off instead of pulling them. put a stake to support it and give it less water if possible.

if it has been raining alot, like here in florida, the ground is probably to soggy to support it..... prop it up with a board until the ground dries out then renforce it with more dirt

put a stake in and gently pull the plant upright.tie to stake
