From the first article I found:
"The judgement was the maximum allowed in Russia since the death penalty is under moratorium. Defence lawyers had asked for 25 years prison."

russia hasn't used the death penalty in about 10 years... people there don't want capital punishment, the 70th anniversary of Stalin's deadliest year was just this past week... he'll probably get shanked in prison for being a psychopath asshole
