If that does not pan out, then you may want to consider homeless shelters. There are lots of them that have kids there.

What you may run into are rules about what is acceptable. The candy probably needs to be individually wrapped. I would not be suprised to hear that they want it in the original packaging as well. However, I would suggest that you call around and see who might want it.

I've done that myself. I've sent bags of candy to the pediatric oncology floor for kids who are in the hospital instead of trick or treating.

The only restriction would be (especially if the hospital has an infectious disease and / or pediatric oncology unit) to be CERTAIN everything is sealed. If it isn't, it's just going to get thrown out. That's important for any child, but especially for a child who has a compromised immune system from chemotherapy or intensive antibiotic treatments, etc. Not only should nobody give fruit to trick or treaters, fresh fruits are strictly forbidden in the same units.
You might want to throw in some halloween stickers etc. just to make up for what won't be able to be used. If they are helpful on the floor, they may help you go through it themselves and pass it out with you.
***8the other option would be to take it to the ronald mcdonald house or other affiliated organization which serves that hospital and they will distribute it to both the kids in-patient and the kids who may be required to stay at the RMH to be close to the hospital for treatment. RMH is always helpful in things like that.

That's a really sweet thing to do, by the way.

Ask first. Some may take it and distribute it whereas others may not want to take candy that isn't packaged. Also, the peds unit could tell you yea or nay as they may have children on restricted diets there that cannot have the candy and it would be cruel to give to some and not others. When in doubt, ask. If you can't give to a children's hospital, check with a local senior center, while the same applies to restricted diets, children in the hospital get visits from all types during Halloween (in Phila, the 76's and Eagles visit CHOP). The seniors are ignored and would love the attention even if you just show off your costumes.

that's a nice idea, but you should ask first at the nurse's station. what if you donated a bag of chocolate and it happened that all of the kids in the ward were on a sugar free diet. i'm sure they'll love a donation, but you should just ask first to see if there are eating restrictions. though, if the kids can't eat chocolate, the nurses probably will

All of that sugar and those empty calories might night be good for sick children. Your heart is in the right place though. Get in touch with the hospital and see what you can do.

Why don't you call the hospital and find out what their policy is.

honestly.
you'd have to ask the hospital permission.
i have no idea, but that's the smartest thing to do.
hope that helps. ♥

No. Those children are ill and on strict diets.
