FYI: I'm an atheist but would consider the hypothetical Jesus as God if the person answering wants me to, or would consider the historic Jesus if the answer wants me to consider that - when I review for picking best answer

I think he would be a Democrat. He is said to have shared bread and wine with a flock of people, who were refugees. He would stand up for the poor; he wouldn't emphasize on saving tax money for the rich.

Rather than securing the welfare of the rich, I imagine him as a champion of human rights. He would promote laws that would raise the standard of living for everyone so that people from different walks of life can participate in democracy.

But I don't think Jesus would really run to become President. Doing so would conflict with his identity of who he is, to save the world without committing a sin; being a president would conflict with his goal. If he is asked to send someone to fight for the U.S., for example, he will have to dismiss this notion entirely. He doesn't care about securing the world peace or securing the U.S. interests.

Lets see, I recall Jesus getting pretty annoyed at the moneychangers in the Temple, and the parable of the Rich man and the camel with the camel winning. And Jesus speaking of caring for the least of His brethren.
What I don't recall, is Jesus speaking of abortion, or birth control, abstinence or homosexuality. I do recall that He was quite forgiving of mans foibles.
In fact helping and forgiveness was big, hoarding money and gloating about it, pride and greed, were big no-nos.
Its pretty obvious that in the things He actually spoke and acted on, the things He admired, Hes a Democrat.
Of course He knew He wouldn't be needing a Golden Parachute.

I think he'd be an independent. That said, Jesus never held much in having the government doing what the individual should do. Yes, he says to take care of widows and children, and to feed the hungry. However, he wanted the individual change to happen in the heart of the person giving of their time and money. Something that if the government taxes will "take care of it" won't happen. You know how if you're actually the one volunteering at the soup kitchen you see the faces of the people you're helping, you hear their stories, you are impacted personally. As opposed to a faceless government entitiy helping them. Yes, Jesus wants us to help those less fortunate than ourselves but it's not just for their benefit. It's for ours as well. There's truth to the saying "it's better to give than to receive".

As to taxes, render unto ceasar what is ceasars and all that. I don't think he'd be pro abortion. Jesus was an accepter of all, something often that BOTH major parties have an issue with.

Jesus would be just like Al Gore.
Just content to stay on the side-lines and say things like: "Render unto to Caesar what is Caesar's..." or answer questions with other questions pandering to the most uneducated in society to become the patron saint rather than an accountable leader.
Getting worshipped and preaching about what good is, is a lot easier than getting elected and actually doing good.

Jesus was the ultimate liberal progressive revolutionary of all history. The conservative religious and social structure that He defied hated and crucified Him. They examined His life and did not like what they saw. He aligned Himself with the poor and the oppressed. He challenged the religious orthodoxy of His day. He advocated pacifism and loving our enemies. He liberated women and minorities from oppression. He healed on the Sabbath and forgave adulterers and prostitutes. He associated with drunks and other social outcasts. He rebuked the religious right of His day because they embraced the letter of the law instead of the Spirit. He loved sinners and called them to Himself. Jesus was the original Liberal. He was a progressive, and He was judged and hated for it. It was the self-righteous religionists that He rebuked and He called them hypocrites.

He always opposed violence and by extension that imples opposition to war. He didn't urge the Jews to take up arms against the Romans. He never uttered a word of criticism of homosexuality. I would say he'd be a democrat.

He would be running as and Republican and a democrat. So he can get votes from everyone.
or

He'll be running as a minority party, cause where he comes from, he is called "hey-sus", cause "J" is silent in Spanish.

He would not be allowed to run. The Constitution requires that a president be born in the US. Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
