The Federal Government wants everyone to believe that they are doing a lot for the disabled but they are not. The ADA of 1990 has so many holes in it that the ADA might as well not exist. The ADA is a load of sh*t and nothing else but a load of sh*t. For the Federal Government to have a law that dates back to 1938 allowing employers to pay the disabled workers below minimum wage should say something about the strength of the ADA, or in this case the lack of it.

Directly, the Federal Government follows the rules and hires a greater proportion of blind people, etc., than does private industry. The local IRS office in Dallas as about 30 blind people on the phones giving tax help and tracking deadbeats.
Indirectly, the ADA results in accessible curbs and ramps to public buildings for wheel chair users and transit solutions with lifts on buses and special services for people who can not drive and can not reach their destination due to vision, physical or cognative limitations and need to be delivered to the door while not being able to afford a taxi every time.

There has been help in the past, but lately they have forgotten about the disabled and the elderly. They are closing programs down at the Mental Health and Metal Retardation Center that I work for. They need our help.

Currently not much. Our current Administration seems ot be more concerned about waging war than the well being of American Citizens.
