I get those all the time. It's a painful graze, you've taken off about 2 or 3 skin layers. I have a nicely healing one on my hand. Put some antiseptic cream on it but don't put a plaster on before it starts to turn into a scab because it needs air. It will turn scabby in about 3-4 days. Then put a plaster on so you don't take off the scab by accident. It then takes about 1-2 weeks for it to heal. It will itch a little, but don't scratch it. You'll have a red bit there but I don't know when that goes away because mine is still there. You can barely see it though. It probably goes away in around 5 weeks.
Don't forget to get a tetanus shot, though. If you DO contract it they have to stick several big needles in your stomach.

Nah, just dab on some bacitracin 1% 3x/day and a thin layer of aquaphor in between applications after hand washings. Keep it aired out, no bandaids, and try not to pick the scab when it forms. If it turns red and pus oozes out, go to your family doc and get it drained. If you develop a fever, have your doc prescribe Abx. It shouldn't transpire that far, as long as you received a Tetanus shot within the past 10 years.

Good luck.

I don't think that it's infected... it's just your body's natural defense of inflammation that brings blood and white blood cells to the site to help repair it in turn making the outer edge reddened. I would just keep it clean and dry and it should heal up no problem. Also about the tetanus, I don't know how old you are but you should definately get a shot of that. You have to get it every 10 years, I got mine in grade 8 and have had another one since... it's important.

It doesn't look infected - Just healing over. Just make sure you keep it clean. If you want a tetanus jab, go to the doctors thye will do it for you and it covers you for 5 years I think then if you get it again it covers you for 10...

no its not infected, its just a graze. Dont worry about it. If you're still worried, just put on some antiseptic cream or antiseptic wound wash. That will help it heal over without any infection faster. But its fine!

you haven't fell much in your day have you??You skinned your hand up a little hon, you'll be fine, unless you want to go get a shot.I think you should get a tetnus shot every 5 yrs so if you have'nt had one in a while I would get to a doc. just to be on the safe side.. Good Luck to ya>>>>>>>

how dissappointing i was hoping to see a big dirty ulser, instead its a scrape on your finger, and that sure doesnt look deep. doctors have better things to be doing with their time then dealing with skinned knuckles. Clean it twice a day with diltued dettol. Keep it clean and uncovered. If your finger is especially hot or inflamed then it could be infected but i doubt it

No it's not infected Hun. If it was it would be really red,the scab would be green and it would be oozing puss.

Just put some anti septic cream on it if your worried :)

Nah it looks fine if it was infected it would look a lot worse although if it stays there for quite a while i suggest you go to see your local GP

I don't think so. I think the skin around the scrape is inflamed because the scab is pulling at it as it heals.
Have you had it covered by a band aid and antibiotic ointment?
