I enjoyed Planet Terror a lot more than I did Deathproof, maybe because I'm more into zombie/gory/cheesy in a good way scary movies....It has its gross-out moments, and great actors, the soundtrack is also fitting as well.

I think I was expecting a bit more when it came to DeathProof, I get the whole killing the girls with the car, and he used to be a stuntman and all, but there was something lacking...I can't quite name what it is that's missing, but while watching the movie, I was waiting for something.

If you watch Planet Terror again, during one of the parts that Fergie is trying to put more water in her car, you'll hear on the car radio "This goes out to Jungle Julia, who is greatly missed," and Jungle Julia was killed on Deathproof. I thought that was a good piece of trivia to throw in there.

I feel the same way you do. Tarantino seemed to overindulge himself with Death Proof, but had a lot of fun with Planet Terror. I enjoyed the latter a lot more.

..."Planet Terror" was definitely a tried-and-true, lovingly devoted homage to the grimy and gory grindhouse-type movies, which were prevelent in the early-to-mid-to-late '70's; director Robert Rodriguez has truly exhued the gritty and grotesque spirit of those bygone era films...

..."Death Proof", however, was first and foremost, a cop-out; the film played more like a drive-in theater type of film, rather than a grindhouse type; once again, although kudos to director Quentin Tarantino for his atypical stylish & visual attitude and savvy, has given us a very, very talky retro-excursion into the classic road chase films of the '70's (...crossing that genre, with the classic slasher film). One definitely finds oneself keeping an eye on one's watch, until such time that the juicy, suspenseful and action packed scenes arise (of which their are mainly two). Credit to Tarantino, once again, for establishing some of the most unusual, eclectic and eccentric characters set to screen. One thing is for certain: this is far and above Tarantino's most adolescent film to date; after all, what guy wouldn't want to be a fly on the wall, privy to the giddily intricate conversation between women...

...yet another cop-out on Tarantino's part: where was HIS faux trailer in "Grindhouse"; director Robert Rodriguez managed to punch out his, with "Machete". I would have loved to see what Tarantino would have come up with...

I thought that they were both good. I see how you could not like Death Proof though, because they really loaded it down with waaaaaaaayyyy too much talking. The parts were stuff was happening were really good...
