Because they are a bunch of scrooges! It is too bad the kids cannot have the same kind of fun we had when we were kids.

As to those who claim the money could be better spent buying items for poor children (We have many in the US too!), Do you ACTUALLY donate the money you would have spent on candy? If not, you are just cheap!

Cant trust anyone anymore. First, I would give out candy but than some punks might rob me. Two, I dont get candy because there might be a bomb in an apple or some blade. Not safe anymore.

What for? Why should I spend my hard earned cash to hand out candy and be bombarded w/ a bunch of brats that are not mine. To me it makes no sense.

i live in the country side and no one walks out this way for trick or treating.
my mom opened her house and gave out candies and goodies for over 30 years but now most of the kids in her area don't like to walk anymore, maybe it was the parents who didn't like walking anymore .... well, most kids go to town for the haunted house and watch the entertainers

The money i spend buying candy could be better spent buying school supplies for a child suffering from poverty in India or Africa

i always buy candy but kids don't usually come down this street and then with the 3 pit bulls its so annoying with all the barking whenever theres a knock at the door. they go bonkers. so i eat the stuff myself.

Won't be home, and if I leave a bowl the wild animals will have it half eaten before the kids even get to it.
