Is a vet a Doctor? Do I refer to them as Doctor John Yahtzee? Or just Mr Yahtzee (my Vet's last name is not Yahtzee by the way, it just came into my head)
I want to send my Vet a thankyou card for the treatment of my cat, but am I over reacting by sending a card? Will they think I am slightly mental? Here is a link to another question that should explain everything: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnXLmAHtrGjR3Wop8XFWMVvty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071007045634AAhSqic
Do you think I should send a letter? I saw on their pin up board they had one or two but it seemed to be from far more serious and traumatic treatments (I can tell you though that this was still equally traumatic for me). Have I left it to long? He got his stitches out a week or two ago, but I would still like to do something.

A veterinary office always appreciates a thank-you card, no matter how minor the case may have seemed. A veterinarian is a doctor and should be referred to as "Dr. Whatever". Don't forget to thank the support staff as well, the doctor most likely didn't single-handedly save your pet. They won't think you're mental, they'll think you're great!

They want to see that you have had dealing with a vet, and that you are known to stay up to date on vaccinations, practice preventative health care, and that you don't show up with a dog that has been hurt or is very sick, and then refuse to have the dog treated.. Or want to make sure that you haven't dropped a dog off there and never picked it up due to the size of the bill, put a dog to sleep for a stupid reason.. They want to know that you are a responsible pet owner and will provide proper vet care if necessary.

Yes, a vet is referred to as a 'doctor.' I think sending your vet a 'Thank You' card is a great idea! People like to know that someone appreciated what they did. It makes them feel like they're job is worth everything they do. I'm a teacher, and anytime I get a card from a student and/or parent saying thank you for something, it always puts a smile on my face. It's nice knowing what you did made a difference for someone else out there and it means so much when they take the time to show their appreciation. A lot of people don't realize how much a simple 'Thank you' can impact another person. Go for it, send him/her that card! I guarantee he/she will appreciate it. =)

As already posted, yes, a veterinarian is a Doctor. I know I call my vet 'Doc', I've done this for many years and am very comfortable doing so. As for sending a card, I think it's a wonderful idea and I have actually gone farther than that so I think a card is 'very' appropriate!. What I do when my vet does a surgery on one of my animals, be it one of my ferrets or cats, I get him and his staff a fruit basket as a token of 'my' appreciation along with a card. I can tell you that they all LOVE IT at the office! I think vets and their staff appreciate people who appreciate them. So I think your card is thoughtful and will be very much appreciated!!! As for being to late....I truly believe in the statement, "Better late than Never"!! Send it! :-)

A vet is a doctor - DVM - doctor of veterinarian medicine.
A thank you card or letter would be a lovely idea.
Don't forget to thank the staff - although a doctor has the fancy title, they also have caring and competent staff helping out and doing lots of the dirty work.

YES, a Vet is a doctor. Address him as Dr. ___
It is always acceptable to send a " Thank You" note when something is done for you. People like to be thanked for the little things as well as the big ones.

I think a vet is a doctor though it doesn't sound like this letter needs to be very formal.
It is a really nice idea to send your vet a card for their help and I'm sure they'd be grateful and appreciate it very much. It doesn't sound like you've left it too late and your vet won't mind.
I want to become a vet when I'm older and if I was your vet I'd really like to get a thank you for my work!

Yes your vet is a doctor and should be addressed as such.
There is nothing wrong with a thank you card. They are appreciated by the doctor and the staff.
If you feel that a letter would express your thoughts better, that is ok too.

Yes - they are considered Doctors of Veterenary Medicine.
It is not going overboard to thank someone for saving your pet's life. I'm sure he and his office stafff will appreciate the card!
