From Debi Gliori's " No Matter What"
It did read " But what about when we are dead and gone, will you love me then, does love go on?"

"look at the stars, how they shine and glow, some of the stars died a long time ago. Still they shinein the evening skies, for you see, love like starlight never dies"...

Now it reads:
" But what about when you're far away
Does your love go too, or does it stay?
Look up at the stars, they're far far away.

But thier light reaches us
at the end of the day.

It's like that with love
we may be close, we may be far
But our love still surrounds us wherever we are."

Granted, it's still a lovey thought but, I special ordered the book to give to a girl whose mother is dying...
and now the point of it is buried , needs to be interpreted..

Does anyone know where I can get the original version?

Yeah the first version was much better. I can't believe they changed it--maybe there is an early edition available. I'll look around some.

Edit: Sent you an email on it.

The first version you quoted was a fairly poorly written poem. Even if you liked the way she conveyed her thoughts in it she must have known herself the first version had flaws. And, like any poet who evolves through craft and ability, she re-wrote it to make it a better poem.

It is common for a singer-songwriter, poet or even a novelist to go back and re-write their earlier work. Or to take what was a bad, but well-meaning, effort and improve upon it.
