When you pick up the post , do you whip open each letter immediately, or stare at each one and inspect the outside thoroughly, post mark ,,address etc. wondering who on earth it`s from then finally open it up..

I'm a bit like charlie out of the chocolate factory,i open slowly to see if i won anything or if its good news..........but its usually damn bills...,,,sigh!!!!!.........lol..x

tend to do a bit of both, leave boring ones and open what I am not sure about . Do look at post marks sometimes.
I have a letter opener as I always used to rip contents and it is much quicker to get inside.

depends if I don't know the name of the person or the company I inspect it very carefully, If I know the name of the person and the hand writing looks a little different I inspect it.
letters from my sister have a certain look and feel as well as handwriting with them I don't need to inspect.

If its a packet or parcel then I open it straight away but if it just looks like a dull letter then I inspect it first

The Captain always inspects. Sometimes you get the wrong mail in your box.
Kinda embarrassing to have to give the neighbor their mail with it ripped open.

99% of the time I know what is going to be in each envelope, I can spot a bill a mile off! Don't usually get many nice surprises!

I always check postmark or return address 1st, gives me a clue whether it's good or bad news!!
Don't know how it started but I guess it's just now a silly quirk that I continue to do without thinking.

I open the most boring looking ones first & leave what look like my Ebay purchases till last.

I put into piles for for whoever it is for- then completely rip mine open- usually ripping the contents at the same time
