Is it wrong to smoke at night (two hits tops) to aid in better sleeping? I've had OCD (professionally diagnosed) for five years. All of the medicines that I've been prescribed over the years have had various awful side effects, such as nausea-stomach cramps, muscle weakness, tiredness during the day, headache...et al.
I have a son, who is asleep for quite some time before I do this, I don't do it in the house, and it's ONLY two hits at night before bed. It works well, and doesn't leve me a mess the next day, but I'm wondering if it's, I guess morally wrong because it's not legal for medicinal purposes here in (state?)

I've only been taking two hit now for the last year. It doesn't get me "stoned" per se, and it doesn't affect my judgement because I can't even tell that I've smoked anything (compared to what people tell me stoned us supposed to feel like.)
In (state) you would only get a ticket for posession. It's not a felony unless you have over 8 ounces. Up to 25 grams (almost an ounce) is only a civil citation and a $100.00 fine. I never have even close to that on my person or in my house at any time. I wouldn't lose my son, I would never smoke during the day, and no one else knows about it so the school is not an issue. And trust me, you've got to do a lost worse (I've seen it first hand with growing up in a bad city) to have your children taken away here than smoke two hits at night. I'm a stay at home mom so there is no chance of failing a drug test.
And, OCD is a conditon where you...the best way I can describe it is "the constantly washing your hands thing."
Obessive-Compulsive Disorder.

If its illegal then its wrong. besides the problem with POT is that although 2 hits does the trick now, as you continue to smoke it will take more to get the same affect and soon you will need to take more hits and that will become a problem. also, if you get arrested for buying it they will take your son away... so until its legal I wouldn't take the risk.....

I don't think it's as much as morally wrong or right as it is making sure you're in a safe environment and it doesn't change how you act or compromise your health. Many people support and are fighting to make it legal in the states that it is currently not. You can call this alternative medicine what you and many have chose. Those man-made drugs can really mess your mind, body, and soul up. Some people do abuse the drug and that is the point you don't wanna reach. Your tolerance can go up and your body will crave larger quantities of it. I know of many that do smoke it and are great, law abiding citizens. educated and successful. I don't feel this way about any other drug, although they do use other illegal substances for medical anesthesia or what have they. Did you know that Montell Williams a talk show host and advocate is fighting to get it legalized in the states where it is not. Sounds to me that you're not abusing it or causing harm to yourself or anyone. That drug as any other, even Tylenol, has it's side effects. Such as increased appetite, silliness (lol), short-term memory loss, and fatigue. I say to pay attention to your body and still tell your son that drugs are bad and when he is an adult he can make the decision, but not looking back remembering mom getting high and enjoying it. Also research it, know what you are putting in your body and how it will and can effect you in the long run... Happy trails

I can definitely understand your moral concerns since you have a child. It is very unfortunate that our society has labeled marijuana as a "drug" which makes it sound like it is on the same level of ecstasy or coke. This just isn't true especially when you compare it to alcohol which is legal but gets you way way way more inebriated. Marijuana is safe and natural. It is much safer than any prescription pill. There are no side effects especially with only two hits. If you want more information on marijuana visit erowid.org. As far as your son is concerned I don't think you should feel bad at all. You are obviously very responsible with your supply. You don't smoke when he is around and when you do smoke you don't get ripped out. I think if your son was older he would understand and be ok with smoking especially in your case. Your child can not be taken away from you and really, with the amount you have you can't get into serious trouble. Marijuana has so many healing affects it is such a shame it isn't legal. I say continue to toke up responsibly and let go of your concerns.

Yes I smoke pot with both my parents actually because they understand that I'm gonna do it anyway so at least want to make sure I'm safe when I'm high and if I ever have kids after they turn 16 then I'll smoke pot with them whenever

No, it's not wrong. It's a plant you are utilizing in a responsible way to help you sleep. You need to sleep well to take care of your child! As long as you don't do it where he can catch you, and it doesn't make you so stoned you can't make proper judgments (which, after two hits, i'm sure isn't the case) I think you are doing the right thing. It's better than taking sleeping pills or something!!

It's perhaps immoral beacause you live in a country where it's illegal.
Otherwise, smoking the herb may do u more good than harm. In fact, I'm actually doing a bit of research on it now. I just met a man who is in his 70s has smoked it for a myriad of years and states that it cured him of high blood pressure which he suffered from for 19 years. In addition, he and his wife met a gentleman who took it to help him with a bad case of Crohn's disease!

In addition IT IS SAID that contrary to popular belief, smoking the herb won't affect ur lungs because it is a natural substance and contains no toxins that would damage your lungs.

Straight answer? Yes, it's wrong. It's illegal. Now, the real answer? Whatever floats your boat. (or in this case, drifts your boat to sleepy time!). Marijuana is a natural substance, and the only real harm that will ever happen to you is the collective damage to your lungs over a LONG period of time. I don't believe that it will ever be legalized, but it is the most therapeutic, mind calming, relaxing, take me away from my troubles, kinda drug you'll ever find. My advice, keep doing what makes you happy. A few tokes a night has got to be a lot cheaper than any prescription!! Keep on tokin'!

,No, it is not wrong if it helps you sleep more power too you.It is impossible to take care of a child without enough sleep. It is better than what your doctor would give you for sleep. It may even help you with your ocd......I have a friend that had to do her ritual before she ate and Mj helped her. You are a good mom.Lot of laws are not right. Are morally wrong like abortion.

It's not wrong. I mean, most people abuse over the counter medicine.. and its over the counter... so its not illegal but it's bad for you.
The only reason why it could be bad it's because it's illegal but anything that makes you feel better, you should do.
Weed is less dangerous than things you can find at your local gas station like Alcohol and Cigarettes, the only reason why it's illegal is because the government can't tax on it ... So don't feel gulity, man.

It's almost certainly legally wrong. It's probably morally wrong because you are putting your son at risk if you're caught. Not knowing where you are, I couldn't tell you what would happen if you did get caught. Would he go into the foster care program? Would he get picked on at school if you were arrested? Would you possibly lose your job if a random drug test picked this up? Would you and he end up homeless if that happened?

Ask your doctor if there are other ways you can deal with this. Maybe there's meds you haven't tried yet, or behavior mods that might help.
