I just purchased an iPod shuffle. Unfortunately it isn't compatible with windows media player and so I was forced to download iTunes.
I have no idea how to use it and can't seem to control what goes on my iPod shuffle. How do I update my music library? How do I quickly select an artist to synch with the iPod?
The device seems okay so far but I'd like to put some specific tracks on it and iTunes isn't very easy to use.
Does anyone know of any online instructions or have any advice themselves to help me out?
Thanks.

How do I import songs from a folder? In Windows media player you simply monitor a folder and it updates your list. On iTunes I can't seem to be able to get my selected songs on the list.
And do I have to really click each song indvidually? Can't I just synch a genre or artist or outline many songs at the same time and then add it to a playlist? This is so frustrating.

It may seem frustrating at first but believe me, it's worth it! Here, I'll answer your questions:

1. How do I update my music library? ----- Not sure what you mean. To get songs in your Library, you either buy them from the online iTunes store (the iTunes Store button is located to the left of the screen, under Store) or get them from CDs.

2. How do I quickly select an artist to synch with the iPod? ----- Do you mean buying from the iTunes store? If so, go to the store and up at the top right hand corner there is a search box. Get to know it. Trust me, I use that thing all the time.

3. How do I import songs from a folder? ----- At the top of the screen, click on File > Import. Then simply find your folder and click on it. You may need to go into the folder and highlight the entire list of songs and THEN press okay or whatever. Or go to File > Add Folder to Library (or Add File for individual songs). The Add Folder option is easiest, I think.

4. Do I have to click each song individually? ----- NO! Press and hold the Ctrl button on your keyboard and then click on all of the songs to add to the playlist! They'll all go in at once. You also use this to delete several songs at once, etc.

If you have any other questions, please email me :] I don't mind! I hope I answered some of your q's, if not just clarify what you mean and I'll do my best.

Good luck!

Take a few minutes and read some of the excellent online help for iTunes. It's a far superior program to WMP, which is why it's so popular.

It works very easily and simply, but is a bit different than WMP. Just read the help and you'll come to love the simplicity like over 100 million others.

iTunes is one of the best mp3 programs once you learn how to use it. Import your cds to the library and then uncheck the songs you DONT want on your iPod. Then click on your iPod from the list on the left and click sync. You may have to check the box that says "only sync checked items"

You need a plug-in to be able to sync your iPod with Windows Media Player:
