Because man walks erect, all the weight is supported by the pelvis as it joins the legs.
In the cat or pig they walk on all fours. As such, only about half of their weight needs to be supported by the pelvis as it joins the rear legs.

If you compare a pig and a human of roughtly the same mass, the pelvis of the pig would be less massive because the pelvis is supporting only about 1/2 of the weight of the pig, whereas the pelvis of a human must support the entire body weight.
