me and my boyfriend decided to get an apartment together but i dont want to put his name on the lease because they will say that we make too much money. I dont think that we make alot of money. Would it be okay if i not put his name on the lease? We are not on section 8 or hud or anything like that. One of my friends lives with her boyfriend and only her name is on their lease and she has never had any problems.
We have been together for 2 yrs and are engaged to be married. I do have an engagement ring. We just got engaged

You should be able to get an apartment with just your name on the lease but you'll need to understand that only your income can be considered when applying.
Which means if you don't make enough money, they can deny you the apartment. They will do a credit check, so don't fudge the numbers.
You might want to make sure there are no limits on parkings spaces if that's an issue - some complexes only allow the number of cars per people on the lease. So if your boyfriend has a car, he may not be able to park it in the parking lot.
Also keep in mind that although you're madly in love now, if something were to happen and your boyfriend moved out, you'd be stuck with the rent - make sure you can swing it.
I'm not questioning your relationship but all women should be independent enough to not "need" a man to take care of them.
Good luck.

P.S. If you have a ring - he's your fiance. :)

There are 2 different issues going on here:

If you're looking at an apartment with upper income limits, he cannot legally live there at all if your combined income exceeds the rent guidelines. Find another place!

Most landlords require all occupants to be on the lease. Your risk being evicted for violating the lease terms if his name is not on the lease, even if the property isn't income limited.

Even if you're the only one listed as the one responsible for the apartment, most landlords require a list, usually somewhere on the lease, of everyone who will be living in the apartment.

Since when is making too much money an issue?

You should list all occupants on the lease. Most leases allow the landlord to evict you if you allow someone not named on the lease to live in your unit.
