I want to delete the last visited sites in my browser, so when I type www. and a letter, it doesn't bring up everything. I thought I had to delete history - ie, tools, internet options delete history - but this hasn't worked. i've also deleted cookies and files (off line content too). but i'm still getting loads of sites coming up when i type www. and a letter.

HELP!

In the options menu you were already in, change days to keep history to 0, and then clear the history again. You will also have to close IE and relaunch it

You need to reset the "Temporary Internet Files and History" settings. Click Start/Control Panel/Internet Options/General tab. Under "Browsing History", click "Settings". At the bottom of the Temporary Internet Files and History window reset the "Days to keep pages in history" to "0". Now IE should not save the search history.

Tools > Internet options > Browsing History > Delete... (follow instructions for History).

PS: When you use the address box (URL box), you are telling the browser to find something for you and because you weren't very fussy, it tries to be nice and brings up sites that it inherently decides you may want i.e., http://www.z will bring up all kinds of "z" related pages (sites), because you weren't FUSSY.

If it didn't do anything at all, you'd be the first to think the browser wasn't worth a pile of - - - -.
