I would look at other parts of your life that you can save the 30 seconds it takes to wait for the door to open. I would be willing to bet that as soon as you get in the house you sit down and watch a stupid tv commercial that lasts for at least twice as long as it takes to open your garage door!
Now, if the reason you want this is just a coolness thing then that is totally different. Get one of those Genie's and amplify the signal!

Get to the door before opening. Distance to open door(s) could cost you a lot! -and not only in cost of remote operation.
Whatever do you intend doing with the time you think you may save?

With all due respect to answer one; we do live in an age and society that breeds paranoia; but we still must get on with life; mostly unhindered.

I've used GENIE with great success; and the distance isn't strictly defined; but I'm guessing the signal; in my case; extends approx. 400 ft. I open a street security gate , and the garage door at the same time, and drive 6 lots to a house with a Genie.

I wouldn't recommend getting one if these, if you can't see your house, opening the door will just leave you open to a thief getting in while you are still a block away and you may find you have a nasty surprise waiting for you when you pull in!

if you are in the u.s. the range of residential remotes is regulated by the fcc. typical expected range is about 50ft. this is so you are in visual range of the door. if you can't see it, you could easily bring it down on somebody (yes, it's happened, that's why they cut down on the range). commercial radio sets are availabe and can be hooked to a residential unit, however, be prepared to reach deep into the wallet. these units (the reliable ones at least) run about $200 for one remote. check with a local door company, they should be able to give you a price.

A good wife will do that for you. Call on the cell phone and she will run out and open the door. Are the cops chasing you or what?

So you dont want to wait for a door to open. How about a faster door opener.
