According to British law, it is treason for someone to sleep with the wife of the monarch's eldest son and heir. If the relationship was consensual, both parties are liable. Both parties admitted to having the relationship, why didn't the government charge them for treason. And for the record, I think this law should be overturned by Parliament ASAP.

James Hewitt could not be charged with treason because under the change to the treason act the rules for procedure of evidence became the same as murder which means there was a 3 year time limit. Therefore when the affair was revealed he could not be prosecuted because it could not be proved that he did it within the foregoing 3 year period

Diana, Princess of Wales admitted that she had an affair with her riding instructor, James Hewitt, between 1987 and 1992. As she was then the wife of the Prince of Wales, heir to the throne, this fit the definition of high treason, and a national newspaper briefly attempted to have Hewitt prosecuted for what was then still a capital offence.

The answer is no. According to latter British law. High Treason for royal affairs were abolished back in the turn of the century.

Because it would have been extremely unpopular and harmful to the image of the Royal Family. If the family weren't going to cooperate, it would have been pointless for the government to pursue charges.

Having an affair isn't treasonous,but plotting to overturn a monarchy is. If there is such a law,it should be thrown out,because affairs of the heart and throne have been happening for centuries(ever heard of Edward VII and his string of mistresses?).

Look at the remarkable resemblance to Hewitt with one of the boys imagine he had been the heir to the thrown. I am against being a slave I bow down to no-one but unlike most people I have dignity no German reigns over me
