Depends on the nature of the climate control system. Some of the older systems only give one option at a time, and require mechanical 'changeover' to go from heating to cooling and vice versa. Such complexes choose a specific date to make the changeover, and then the system stays in that mode until it's time to change back.

Not in mine. I can choose to run the heat or AC at any point I want.

However, my old place had radiators and followed that schedule. The reason is WINTER.

come on. do you need the cooling in the winter time or the heat in the summer time?????????????

If you don't like this arrangement, move to a place with unit HVAC controls.

Yes, they are trying to save money by putting everything on timers/computers.
One way around this is to buy your own portable heater for when you want more heat.
Walmart has a great little electric heater for $16.00.
