1. Back up any important files onto a flash drive/usb disk drive of some kind.

2. Download all of the drivers you need for your graphics card and most importantly, your network adapter. Windows, unlike Linux and Mac's do not ship with a complete set of drivers. You will need to install these after the OS has been installed to get back on the internet to finish the installation.

3. Depends on the XP license that came with your PC. Some have a full installer where you can delete the partition and start over. Others have a disk image on a CD-ROM that they write to the disk. Some systems have a hidden partition from which you restore from.

4. Check your reseller's site (ex. Dell or HP) for re-installation instructions and follow them.

Start you computer and enter the bios. Make sure the the cd drive is set to boot before the hard drive. Now put your operating system cd into the cd drive and restart the system. This will start the installation process. If you wish to remove everything from the drive before you reinstall Windows, do the following. When you come to the window that asks if you want to install Windows now, read down a couple of line and follow the instructions on removing and creating the primary partition. After the partition has been created you will need to format. After the formatting process, Windows should start to install automaticly.
