I have these two auditions coming up....obviously i won't be doing both shows but i want to take a shot at these roles. What are good songs to sing? Its cold reading so i dont have to worry about a monolouge, but I really don't know what to sing....Phantom and Les Miserables are so overdone so i do not want to sing from them.
Also, I know the director for Secret Garden and he HATES anything pop or belty.
Your help would be awesome!!!

I like the suggestion Theatre gurl made, but I'd add:

Belle (Lyrical Pop Theatre Soprano with belt, Low A to High F)
strong-willed, loving, loyal, intelligent, vibrant
Part Of Your World - Little Mermaid
In My Own Little Corner - Cinderella
Waiting For Life – Once On This Island
Astonishing – Little Women
I’m Not Afraid of Anything – Songs for a New World
Someone Else’s Story – Chess
Heaven Help My Heart – Chess
I Don’t Know How To Love Him – Jesus Christ Superstar
I Still Believe – Miss Saigon
Someone Like You – Jekyll & Hyde
Far From The Home I Love (too Melancholy?) – Fiddler
All For Laura - The Woman in White
The Right Finger of My Left Hand - Redhead

Martha (Mezzo - Yorkshire dialect)
Mary's chambermaid. Spunky, high spirited, overwhelmingly optimistic, holistic and mystical.

Green Finch and Linnet Bird – Sweeney Todd (lyrics are sad, but you can sing it "Martha-like". It's the style of the music I felt is most like Secret Garden...)
It Might As Well Be Spring – State Fair
Poor Wandering One – Pirates of Penzance
Waiting For My Dearie – Brigadoon
Goodnight My Someone – Music Man
Here In Eden – The Apple Tree
The Steps of the Palace - Into the Woods
When I Marry Mr. Snow – Carousel

Hopefully between Theatre_gurl and I you can find something that will work :-)

Best of luck!
Marianne

Belle is more of a pop soprano. Suggestions:

Somewhere That's Green - Little Shop of Horrors
Follow Your Heart - Urinetown
Journey to the Past - Anastasia
How Lovely to be a Woman - Bye Bye Birdie

The Secret Garden has some incredibley beautiful music that’s more legit than pop. So, you’ll want to stay away from the full-out belt songs.

Someone Else’s Story – Chess
Tell Me On A Sunday – Song and Dance
You’ll Never Walk Alone - Carousel

Good luck!
