What do you call:

-an ambulance chasing lawyer who bankrupts companies with flimsy scientific evidence?
-a rich lawyer who champions for the poor but lives in a mansion and contributes nothing to the poor?
-a man who uses his wife's disease to get votes?
-a man who claims fiscal sense but pays $400 for a haircut?

Any ideas, it is a democratic candidate for president? (hint)

Any ideas out there?

Bonus points, what has he done for america?

John 'Robber Baron' Edwards.

Well, he HAS single handedly priced many doctors out of the market bc he's directly responsible for the soaring malpractice costs.... Do I get the bonus?

Fiscal responsibility is a matter of paying for things which you can afford. John Edwards can afford a $400 haircut, so he spends $400 of his own money for a haircut. I can't afford a $400 haircut so I have mine cut for $17.

Elizabeth Edwards' cancer has barely been talked about since the launch of his campaign. And considering that John Edwards is only polling slightly higher then he did in 2004 I'd say it's making little impact on his campaign.

I personally can't speak for Edwards' personal donations, as I don't know how much or to what causes he contributes to if any. However he feels there should be a national effort to limit poverty within this country. Again he has not asked for everyone in America to personally donate to the poor, he's asked for a change in laws, etc to assist the underclass.

I'm not familiar with any companies being bankrupted personally by John Edwards or due to any trial where Edwards was representing one of the parties involved. However Edwards was a trial lawyer and did represent people who felt they were wronged in there life due to someone else's negligance especially corporate negligence. It was Edwards job to prove the negligence of the party or company and what do you know he was very successful at it. How familiar are you with any of the trials Edwards was involved in?
Edwards was not an ambulance chaser, he was an extrememly succsful and well known trial lawyer, he had such a reputation that the cliental flocked to him and which ever firm he was associated with.

Additionaly it was not Edwards who awarded any particular amount of money to his clients it was the jury or the judge. IF you have a problem with the amount settled then discuss it with the jury, judge or the insurance company involved. One other thing you could do is to petition your local and state legislatures to get involved. As for the Junk science claim, the only thing I've heard assocaited with one of Edwards' trials and junk science is whether or not infant cerebal palsy can be caused by the physician during delivery. On both sides of the case experts agree that cerebal Palsy can be caused by the malpractice of a physician. It's all a matter of the individual case.

If he were in a different party....
you wouldn't call him an ambulance chaser. You'd say he was "aggressive in pursuing business goals."
"Flimsy scientific evidence" would be magically transformed to "adheres to the idea that he should use the tools available to him."
"Lives in a mansion" becomes "successful."
"Champions the poor" becomes "compassionate."
"Contributes nothing to the poor" becomes "believes in self-reliance"
Pays $400 for a haircut...What? $400? Just four hundred? In DC???! Why, he's a bargain hunter!

"Uses his wife's disease to get votes" transforms into "Faces real problems that real people face, and does so with grace and dignity, understands the intricacies of the health-care system...."

AND SO ON.

I'm with the poster who said ADDRESS THE ISSUES. I'm tired of politics that is little more than marketing. I take blessed little of what any of them say seriously. You have to look at the plans they have in place, the analysis they are willing to give serious and COMPLEX problems, the clarity with which they express complicated ideas, the honesty with which they answer direct questions.

Frankly, none of them are doing it for me yet.

Nothing in the world is as simple as a set of talking points.

We've had plenty of lawyers for president before. And none of them were saints.

I guess you'd feel better if he lived in the slums? Or is it just the fact that he's rich that bothers you?

How would he have avoided the public finding out about his wife's illness? There is no privacy in this country any more! Had he not announced it, it would have been "leaked" all over the press and tabloids. It was better to simply bring it out in public.

Should we investigate GWB's wardrobe costs? People who are rich spend money on things we ordinary schmoes can't. It's just jealousy to complain about that!

Now, if you have any actual objections to his campaign platforms, please let us know, but stop the personal and irrelevant attacks!

Wow yet another cowardly school yard bully. Who blocks their email and hides here on YA afraid to confront people face to face with their outlandish claims and mudslinging ideas. Next up the spineless wuss will report all of us who disagree with him and have our answers removed. The pattern from you cowards is so clear it is crystal.

Now why not do us all a favor and when you grow up and your Mommy allows you to cross the street on your own, come on back and engage in real political debate. In the mean while please leave matters you do not understand to grown ups

Well yes, ole Bill does have a womanizing disease. Guess you could say Bill is feminine since Hillary wears the pants. I think Hillary pays more for a cut, makeup, manicure and pedicure exceeding $400. I agree se hasn't done anything for America, and the concern is what she will do to America. Which mansion are you referring to, or in which state?

Don't like Edwards, huh? I'm not too thrilled with him, either. He's not going to get the nod so don't fret.
