I measured my property and it was only 29 feet and 2 inches. Land lot for my zone states 30 feet. This extra 8 inches would make my driveway easier to get into. How can I found out who is responsible. Also is it possible for the other property to have been grandfather din? Tried to get a survey from 9 years ago from Intracoastal Abstract- Title Company and they said they don't have the survey on file anymore. Don't want to get a new survey. So now I’m stuck with a narrow driveway and I am not sure how to get my total 30 feet of property back. Please Help!

I second newjerseyguy's recommendation. What you think is the property line may not be the actual boundary. Some markers are placed below the surface, and can't be verified without digging. I found this when the neighbor had his lot surveyed. The line was 6-8 feet from where we both thought it was located.

One caution - I'm told there are more than one kind of survey. Some only look at old records and say, "Yup - that's right". It sounds like you need someone to research the records, then come out to your property, find the boundaries and corners, and mark them. If that 10 inches is important to you, pay the money for a full survey.

The only way to really know where your property lines are is to have a licensed land surveyor mark them for you. The apparent property lines you are measuring may not be the actual lines.
