Every year I make my Aunts and other family members gifts. Last year I made soaps and year before i made decoupaged boxes.
This year I just can't think of anything to make! Any ideas?

My sister went and found some very old snapshots and had them copied and enlarged for everyone. She put it in an inexpensive cardboard folder and then we all had them framed to our liking.

One year I gathered up everyones' Super 8 movies and had them transferred to VCR - you could do the same, only of course now it's dvd.

Or you can make a cd slide show on the computer, with their favorite music.

Well, there are lots of things you could do, I am just giving you some ideas.
1. Make your own candles. There are a lot of sites explaining the procedure, one of them is http://www.candlewhiz.com/. You can decorate them with beads, dried fruit, cinnamon sticks etc.
2. Make a beautiful candle holder by carving on a branch of wood 2 or more round holes. They must be big enough to fit tealight candles (the ones inside the cylidrical metal container ) - they are about 1 1/2" in diameter and around 3/4" high. Then you could either paint the branch gold by using a spray paint or leave it its natural color by using a transparent wood coating.
3. Make jewellery, decorations etc by using clay, polyclay or cold porcelain.
4. Napkin rings. Just use bracelet memory wire and beads. Six to eight rings are ideal as a present.

I have made Christmas Card holders for people. You take a 48 oz juice can and cut the top and bottom out of it. Make sure it's washed and dried real good. Then take any colour of yarn or combination of colours and tie one end around the can (go through the center to tie). then wrap it around the can pulling tight. Once you have gone all the way around the can, tie it off again and hide the ends. You take the card and slide it through the strands of yarn and the cards can sit on any table or shelf and be easily admired.

I downloaded all my mom's favorite songs (200+) and put them on a cheap MP3 player that I purchased off of ebay. It was a big hit. Two years ago I took a picture of me and my sister at a friend's wedding (digital camera) and framed it for my parents which also seemed to go over well. My wife bakes her famous williamsburg bread for her brother. Hope this helps and good luck.

you can make a mini photo frame and put cut-out pictures of your relatives.
you need one super glue (costs $1.50) and ice-cream sticks (costs 80 cents). if you want additional materials to decorate it, budget it to $2.
it will be nice.

here are the steps.
1. take 9 ice-cream sticks of any colour and place them side by side.you may place them in whatever position as long as they are side by side.
suggestion: one up one down.
2. take another ice cream stick and stick it on top to make the top part of the frame.
3. finish up the remaining part of the first layer of frame.
4. do the second layer of frame by repeating steps 2 and 3 over again.
5. paste the pictures of your relatives on the inside of the frame.
6. do the back stand of the frame by breaking (not totally) one ice-cream stick a quarter up. then stick it to the center of the back frame.
caution: do not break the ice-cream stick into two pieces.

here.done.
i hope they are useful.

you could get those cheap ivy jars they only cost about 1.99, get some potpori(sorry spelling horrible) maybe a spice sented one. You could decorate the jar if you want, maybe with some painted design, or gluing those facet beads around the jar in a design. or just get some lenghts of ribbon and tie it around the jar just under the top. Then just fill the jars with the potpori, or keep it separate and they can fill it when they get it home.
Hope this helps.
