He has played the fence on this one -- no pun intended. A year ago, he signed a bill allocating funds for another 350 + miles of fence and wall to be put up on our southern border. He has since tried to "open" the market between our two countries by allowing mexicans to drive mexican registered and licensed trucks in the U.S.. All (I'm sure) are a part of a bigger plan for greater trade. With Canada, the relationship has always been open. The only time there has been stress (per the U.S. perspective) has been when terrorists filter down through the porous border AND when the old folks were going north for prescription drugs at reduced rates. From the Canadian perspective, it has almost solely been when the draft dodgers were going north. But most on this website wouldn't remember that...

I cannot comment intelligently on the Canadian border to the US, but the US/Mexico border is letting in an average 12,000 illegals a day. This, in no way, could be considered a secure border, which, after 6 years of doing NOTHING, can only mean George W. Bush either doesn't take a terrorist attack in the US seriously (once again), he knows for certain there WON'T be an attack (cuz his buddy bin Laden promised him there won't be, as long as bin Laden remains free) or because he WANTS another terrorist attack in the US, to scare the citizens once again, in order to get them to vote the way he wants them to.

Take your pick, but none of the choices make our leadership look very competent.

No, the boarders are just as vulnerable as they have been. It would be very irresponsible on our part to bring the soldiers home from Iraq and Afghanistan prior to "US" forcing the issue on both Congress and the President to correct that problem.

The borders are as secure as he wants them to be. They need the influx of drugs and cheap labor to keep the underclass down.
