Maybe it is because according to the Bible the love of money is the root of all evil (Remember, two Jewish fellows created Superman and they may have went with that theory) and if you look at the millionaires in the comics, they are the evil bad guys.

But not all are like that. In the X-Men comics Professor Xavier is the millionaire.

In all fairness, if I were a superhero and therefore could decide who I hang around with, I'd be more likely to go with the millionaires (better parties, hotter women etc) than hang around the local council estate drinking White Lightning!
