Or does it just use their amps to start ur car. I was wondering if I kept my car off and let the other car charge my battery would it work? Or does it just act as a second battery?

What happens is an incharge and outcharge conection. One battery loses power, one gaines it.

Jump starting a car "borrows" power from the second car battery to start the first, however, charging a dead battery can fry or weaken your alternator so it's best to leave both cars hooked up for 15-20 minutes to spread the charging load over two alternators as the second car's alternator will help the first alternator to charge the first car's battery. Best to have the battery and alternator both checked out as soon as possible.

The other car's battery is connected in parallel with your battery, and provides most of the cranking power to start your car. Then, if it's able to once it's running, your car's electrical system takes over to charge your battery.

It gives your car a "jump start" as the name says, then as your car runs, your alternator will charge your battery up....so after you get a jump don't immediately kill the car or it may not start again.

The battery from the other car does not charge yours. Their alternator does.

Its a "Jump-start" not battery charges best thing is to check your battery have water/ fill it maybe put on trickle charger for while over night/ if you don't have one replace battery! if not old go back where you bought it maybe some credit on it toward new one.. and you only have to pay difference??

NO...................

SINCE YOUR BATTERY WAS LIKELY DISCHARGED SLOWLY YOU WILL HAVE TO SLOWLY RECHARGED YOU BATTERY BACK AND THIS CAN TAKE 24 TO 72 HOURS.

THE HOT SHOT WILL GET YOUR CAR RUNNING AND MOST LIKELY THE CAR MAY NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AT THIS TIME BUT IT IS NOT FULLY CHARGED UP AND IT WILL NEVER BE FULLY CHARGED UP UNTIL A SLOW CHARGE IS DONE.
