When Bush got in office ,for the 1st time in history he let the Big Oil co.s "help" write the "energy bill" There 1st order of biz was to DE Regulate the energy co.s so that they could raise your heat & electric bill as much and as often as they wanted to with out having to get approval from congress, And then Bush cut funding for the Energy assistance program for the poor ,elderly and disabled to get help with one heat bill a year. I heard someone refer to Bush as "Compassionate" ? To the rich Maybe?

Chances are good. The next President will almost surely be Democratic and will put back in place all that Bush undid. They need to make sure their nest egg is big enough to withstand 8 lean years with a Democrat in power.
Tell me if you know how Congress works? GW Bush had carte blanche over the first 6 yrs he was in office, did he not? A Republican Congress and President made it very easy for him to get done what he wanted to. Now, while the simple majority in Congress is Democratic, they do not have the number needed to overturn anything Bush decides he will veto. No carte blanche, but not forcing him into anything he doesn't want.

What makes you think it the actions of Bush or US oil companies that are driving the price of oil up?
As far as the price of heat and electricity goes. Do some research and see how it's made. Which would you rather see power or a lower price. NO electric company is going to sell you power when it costs more to make it than they get for selling it.
OBTW most STATES are the ones who regulate utilities cost. Since you probably live in one of those BLUE states why don't you look to your state government for lower prices?
ALSO Democrats now control Congress. Have you heard ANYTHING from them about regulating energy costs? How about anything to repeal what went on before they got control? I don't think so. Why? Because they aren't going to do anything.
AND Since you obviously flunked US GOV. in high school. I'll tell you a fact of life. NO President has control of oil, gas, or any other energy source prices. When it comes to the budget cuts those have to be approved by Congress. If Bush intended what you say, Congress approved it. And who controls Congress? Can you say DEMOCRATS boys and girls?

Apparently not. Adjusted for inflation, the price of gasoline is still cheaper than it was under Carter.
The price of gas has not gone up as much as the price of a barrel of oil. Huh? How's that, the demand has not gone down?
If you made the argument that the oil companies are artificially keeping the price low in order to discourage the investment in alternatives, I might buy it.
Approval from Congress? What other company has it's prices controlled by politicians with a decree?
You do know that Hugo Chavez is not running the US and the companies here have not been nationalized, right?
Yes that's right. You are a communist and don't even know it.
INFLATION INFLATION INFLATION. You're disasterbating. Do you even know how the inflation rate is arrived at?
When is the last time you checked the consumer price index?
What is inflation: "An increase in the amount of currency in circulation, resulting in a relatively sharp and sudden fall in its value and rise in prices: it may be caused by an increase in the volume of paper money issued or of gold mined, or a relative increase in expenditures as when the supply of goods fails to meet the demand."
The rate is around 2.3% today. Under Comrade Carter it was in double digits.
Calm down.

I'm sure there is some truth to what you are saying, and some shady deals have occurred, as they always do. I don't recall Bush getting investigated for shady land deals like someone else did, or for campaign contributions.
I will say that the Government is more concerned about Bill Gates getting a monopoly in the computer world, but does nothing to control the oil companies that can "slow: production when they want, which forces and increase in oil prices, that is price gouging at it's finest.

Oh geeze... BIG OIL.... the Boggy Man... the Big Bad Wolf.. the Monster under the bed.... How about we Drill for oil in Alaska, in the Gulf off of the Florida Coast, and on other "forbidden" lands and become energy independent.... You act like American "BIG OIL" is one huge conglomerate that controls world oil prices and always makes obscene profits.... why don't you try looking at the facts of the situation... American oil companies aren't the only players in the world oil market... they aren't even the biggest... Oil prices are set by world demand and the limited supply. (the reason that we need to extract oil from our own lands). We haven taken control of any oil from the Middle East, and that includes any from the country that Saddam invaded in the first Gulf War. If you really want to help the "poor" that you claim that Bush is snatching food right from their tables... you would support energy independence by extracting oil from our own lands. And make it easier to build new refineries... to gassify coal for fuel... to extract oil from shale... to build more coal fired electric plants... to build new nuclear power plants... to allow wind farms to be built... and on. Find some *REAL* battles to fight.

No.
That's going to happen if Hillary wins and she slaps a huge "Profit tax" on them. Then we'll all see the resulting rise is costs.
The regulation you talk of is socialist. So is the handout to "the poor old lady."
Bush may be a lot of things, but he's no Socialist.
