I like her voice, anyone that doesn't is out of their minds. She is one of the best. FYI, Boo, she can basically hit any note that she wants so I doubt that that's why does that.

in some songs she does it so much that by the end of the song she sounds all raspy. She doesnt do it all the time though. She actually has songs where she only sings with a straight voice... but then she whispers alot which is equally as annoying.

Are you referring to her use of melisma style? That is what virtually all black/R&B singers do. The only thing I have a preference for in regards to her voice is when she shows her vocal strength by using full voice because so many singers don't have the powerful voice she does (though they try).

Mariah is the bomb! Its just a part of her style, she's song in a "straight tone" before.. plenty of times..

When she "wiggles" her voice so much, Maria is showing an incredible amount of vocal flexibility...something that takes a lot of work and effort to achieve.

No - I hate it! It sounds like singers can't hit the note when they do that. I prefer a straight tone. I don't think all that sliding up and down the scale shows one bit of vocal talent - it just makes them sound like amateurs.

Sorry to go off, but it's one of my biggest pet peeves!

Yes, Broken Glass, I realize she is a great singer and has a great range, and I know very well she can hit any note she wants to. I wish she'd just hit the note already. It is my opinion that all that sliding up and down the scale makes her sound like she can't. I am not saying definitively that she can't. And it's just my opinion - I'm not stating anything as fact.

You just named why I can't stand her singing. She should just sing and not do all that wavering.
